Trying to be Good
I don't understand why I'm struggling with the middle age weight issue. I mean look at my morning:
Get up, have a banana and coffee.
Go to the gym.
Come home, have another cup of coffee and a chocolate chip muffin.
Sit all day and write.
Why am I not losing weight? Mwhahahaha!!!!

My dear love Jennifer, you are lovely, and I've heard all about the red dress.
It is called MENOPAUSE! No matter what I do I either maintain (which given the options I will take) Or gain weight. Dieting = gain weight for the last four years. Dieting = weight gain doesn't equate in my reconning, but it has become my physical reality. So sad.
Depressing. If I was a lessor person I'd say bring on the booze and pills. Why? My mother showed me a smock in the Blair's flyer the other day to hide my... hmmmm.... figure. Where on God's green earth does it say increasing women need to wear bright, polyester print moo moos?
lovely, it was suppose to say My dear, lovely Jennifer. argh!
Cele, thank you, but this is my fault too. I used to have discipline...
And you're too beautiful and wonderful for a polyester print moo moo! Don't give in! We must stick together and wear our middle age proudly :-)
Red dress--I'll never live it down. You can see the red dress at the Brava site http://www.bravaauthors.com/gallery/wp-content/uploads/jen2.jpg
The red dress was faboo!!
And, it's not the eating, Jen. It's the sitting. All the sitting. If you're very quiet, you can actually HEAR my ass spreading. not pretty
Oh, Jen, you always look fantastic! You've got nothing to worry about.
And sounds like the discipline is still there if you go to the gym EVERY morning! What's up with that? Dang. I'm lucky if I make it up and down my staircase 10 times a day. Half the time I'll just think things like, "Nah, I really don't need to go up there and grab that pencil...I'll just use this old tube of lipstick to make out the grocery list."
M.
WOW~love the red dress. You look fabulous.
Going to the gym every day is a very hard thing to do. I know, a couple of years ago I used to do that too. Now I prefer to sleep a little bit later in the morning and complain about how tight my pants are getting. I keep waiting for my husband to tell me to do something about it or just keep quiet. :)
Maureen, LOL! The sitting all day is not a good thing! And you're not fat, Maureen. Not a bit.
Michele, I am misrepresenting myself! I DON'T GO TO THE GYM EVERYDAY! I go 3X a week or less if I can think up an excuse. And why use a pencil when a lipstick is close by? It sounds very logical to me!
Kzmom, if I had let out my breath, that dress would have exploded :-)
Thank you all for being so nice!
Jen, that red dress is beyond fabulous!!
And Cele, you say "booze and pills" like those were bad things! LOL
Okay, starting next week, we're all going to the gym every day. Wait, I can't start next week. How 'bout the week after that? Oops, that's not good either...
Kate, I'll go to the gym everyday when you do! Pinky swear :-) Sheesh, I'm so pathetic, I was actually smiling Monday morning when I woke up and realized I couldn't go to the gym because I had to take my son to the doctor to find out if his ankle was broken. (It's not, just sprained but great excuse huh?).
Kate while booze and pills have a calming affect on my world, the thought of old lady fat clothes raises my anxiety level. I have to learn to dress my age. What in the hell does that look like. If I could wear Jen's red dress I'd be happy. Buttttttt nooooo.
Polyester print Moo Moos - I mean really! It ain't happenin'.
My sympathies, Jen.
Solution: Move to the Islands where moo-moos are lovingly called Auntie dresses and fat means prosperity.
As for exercise-- For the last four weeks, I had committed to going to Curves 5-6 days/week, and doing 60 minutes (not 30 as they suggest), which is 4 times around the circuit. I keep my heart rate at max aerobic level the entire time. Then I do 20 minutes of yoga stretches and situps. PLUS I walk my dogs 2 miles every day. My diet isn't perfect but it's no different than before I started. But I HAVEN'T LOST ANY WEIGHT!!!!
Wow Sue! You put me to shame! No wonder you look so good!
Gillian this is my argument. Thank you
You must be doing something right at the gym! I don't see any flab and your upper arms look great! So, what is the point here? I am not seeing a size 26? I don't get it?
Gemma, thanks! But there's some serious flab hanging around in different areas :-) But I manage to ignore it as much as I can!
