What's Sexy to You?

I'm going to do a workshop on writing sex and intimacy in January. Sexy is very subjective, of course. I saw James Bond this weekend--uhh, he's hot but his character didn't have enough layers to be really sexy to me (that's just me). So I have a couple questions:

1) What's sexy to you? (Everyone's going to say a sense of humor, but humor is subjective too. What KIND of humor? Private joke humor--which is more intimacy than sexy; or make me laugh after a bad day humor?)

2) What's intimacy to you?

3) What do you want to know about writing sexy?

Thanks! Any and all help is very, very appreciated!

Sexy to me is Colin Firth. I watched A&E's Pride & Prejudice this weekend. Love a man who can admit that he was wrong and still be charming. (sigh)

Sexy is when my man graces the room and gives me *his* smile which tells me I'm his.

Intimacy is when I'm with my man and the world outside doesn't exist in that moment.

Sexy is laughter...at least for me. The inside jokes when my husband looks at me and I know what he's thinking...the laugh out loud stuff that has us falling together, holding each other up.

And it's hard to nail down, isn't it?? This is not an easy talk you're scheduled to give, Jen!

Sexy is a man who is secure in himself, gives of himself, laughs at himself (not others) and never grows old of me. Physically for me it's butts and voices.

Intimate, hmmm that one is harder. I like Dru's answer. But my answer is, to be fully in the know and still want more of that someone. Without shyness, because they answer the question inside of you.

Does that even make sense?

Ktzmom, admitting they are wrong is a good one.

Dru, Great description of intimacy.

Maureen said "This is not an easy talk you're scheduled to give, Jen!" LOL! Don't I know it...now. It sounded easy when I agreed to do it! The inside joke is both sexy and intimate--great!

Cele, you are making perfect sense. Sexy and intimate are personal words taht mean something a little different to everyone. Tah's why layering a character works--it gives a broader range of readers something to idetnify with.

Thanks so much for all your help!

Jen, I read this yesterday and was trying to think of a good answer for you.

But I don't have one.

I think images and words are sexy, but what makes me want to hop in the sack is my husband and knowing how much he loves me. His love for me and willingness to put himself on the line for me is the sexiest thing I can think of.

Good luck with this.

Not that you need it. Whatever you come up with will be great!

PS About Daniel Craig...I have to admit, his image was one I liked.

It was less about the layers than the striations.

Yes, I admit it. I objectify men and am a female chauvinistic pig. Does that put me on the naughty list?
