Barbara Seranella

Saying Goodbye to friends is the hardest thing we have to do. The mystery community is small and we, along with her fans, grieve. Our grief, however, cannot possibly compare with that of her family and close friends. Our thoughts are with them.

Barbara Seranella, 50, bestselling mystery author and a wonderful woman passed away on January 21st 2007. Barbara struggled valiantly against liver disease. In fact her life story is quite amazing.

I met Barbara a few times. One memorable time was when I signed with her a terrific mystery book store, Mysterious Galaxy, in San Diego. Barbara was so gracious, funny, charming and the most "real" women I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

Barbara, you will be missed, but your spirit lives on.

This is such sad news. I met Barbara at a Sisters in Crime meeting in 1997, the year her first book came out. Her book--and Munch, her unlikely heroine--was so absolutely original, it blew me away. She was an amazing writer and a lovely person.

This was sad news. One of the papers (I want to say the LA Times) did a very nice obit - and WOW what a life she led!

And totally off topic, since you tinkered with your blog I can now see it using Firefox. Before it was strictly IE....
