Managed Husband Care

Two of my sons have moved out. Much of their junk remains...sigh. But anyway that's not my point. Here's a conversation with my husband.

Me. "I want to paint the two bedrooms."

Hubby. "Uh huh, no way, once we start that, we'll end up painting the whole house."

Me. "No, really, I just want to do the two rooms. How do I get that stuff off the walls and get them ready for painting?"

Hubby. "No you're not going to do it. You wouldn't even know what kind of paint to buy."

Me. "I'll buy any kind of paint I want! I'll do it myself."

Bubby with a Big Sigh. "You'll do it wrong then I'll just have to do it over."

Me--Big Smile. "So you'll paint the rooms?"

"God, I hope you get a new contract soon."

LOL! Once I have a book to work on, I'll forget about painting. But in the meantime, if I really really want to do the work, hubby will paint the rooms. But the trade off is that I have to be Gofer for the day or days of painting.

And don't think my husband doesn't "manage" me--he gets me to do all kinds of stuff by being sneaky or--gasp--kind.

Anyone else out there "manage" their spouses?

LOL, Jen......don't we all manage our spouses?? Mine is a big planner. I'm more spur of the minute. So, knowing him, when I want to take a trip, I start talking about it. Where we'll go, what we'll see...by the time we get close to leaving, he's pretty much convinced the whole thing was his idea.....

Oh mi gawd... this line would have totally set me off...

Hubby. "No you're not going to do it. You wouldn't even know what kind of paint to buy."

I fly in the face of wisdom, convention, and husbands.

The best I can do is manage to hold on to the current one. Other than that, no I'm not good at managing much.

Maureen, that's pretty funny! Good thing you've found a way to blend your "spur of the moment" with his "olanning" personalities.

Cele, I know it sounds bad, but it was just the truth. My husband had worked in paint stores while going ot college--so he's in charge of painting. He knows very well I can do it myself, but it'll take me twice as long and a couple more mistakes than if he does it.
