Reading and Reviews

What are you all reading?

I just finished Lori Foster's SIMON SAYS. It was pretty good. I liked her heroine a lot, and I like the fight scene at the end of the book a great deal.

I went to Amazon this morning and found a new and lovely review for THE SEX ON THE BEACH BOOK CLUB--what a great way to start my morning and the weekend! While I try very hard not to react to reviews too much, I'd be lying if I said that they don't affect me. Or course they do!

Harriet Klausner put up a review of EXTREMELY HOT on Barnes and Noble, but her reviews don't really affect me. She does so many and has become something of a controversy for many people. I don't really know why people care, but they do get bent out of shape about her. So--her positive review of the book doesn't get me too excited. Besides, reviews by pure fans are much more satisfying than "professional" reviews. Professional reviewers are driven to post their reviews for various reasons like money, attention etc. But a fan who likes the book so much they take the time to post a review really is special.

Generally people are more likely to take action when they are annoyed, disappointed or flat out hate a book...have you ever noticed that?

Have a great weekend!

I finished Jennifer's, EH - and it was:-) loved it!

Now, I'm a few chapsters into THE MEMORY KEEPER'S DAUGHTER. The author is an English professor and it shows. It's VERY literary, soooooo much exposition - but the plot is so good I'm sticking with it!

Laura, aww thanks! That means a lot to me! You helped me plot this book way back in the beginning.

I haven't heard of THE MEMORY KEEPRS DAUGHTER. I'll have to look for it. Although all that exposition does sound like work!

I'm reading TAPPED OUT by Natalie M. Roberts. I'm enjoying the adventures of the heroine.

I tried writing a review, but I'nm not good at it, so I prefer to write the author to let them know that I enjoyed their story and look forward to reading more by them.

Jen, I almost wrote you a quick note the other day. I now have an airshift again, and I tend to read for the second two hours of it. So I open up my copy of Extremely Hot about five or ten minutes before I had to do a weather forecast. You totally caught me by surprise, I think I laughed at myself for the rest of the afternoon. I should have known, I mean it's a Brava, duh. I'm really enjoying the read. Thank you Jen.

I loved Tapped Out Natalie writes wonderful humor. I always get a clear picture of her characters.

Cele, I'm glad you enjoyed the opening scene! The original opening scene wasn't quite as...umm...entertaining but a friend suggested the revision. Once she suggested it, it made perfect sense!

Natalie's Jenny T Parker Mysteries are wonderful!

Dru, no Extrememly Hot isn't out yet. I sent Cele an adavance copy to thank her for help with information on radio stations. I gave Laura an advance copy for the same reason--she was very helpful in developing Luke, the hero's character.

Extremely Hot is supposed to be out around Oct 30th or Nov 1st.
