Let's Make A Pact

I already KNOW without a doubt I will break my pact, but here it goes...

The holidays are insane, right? With me so far? Presents, decorating, baking, being nice to THOSE people, business dinners, and worst of all, the annoying commercials that just try to heap more guilt (which translates into more spending) on us.

I say we all pick one thing and say NO, NOT GONNA DO IT.

Mine pick for the pact? Christmas Cards. I end up doing boxes of these things. It's time to stop.

First off, who cares? Really do we hold a grudge if we don't get a card from someone? And if we do--GO BACK ON THE MEDS, because that's a really stupid thing to hold a grudge about.

Second, because of my arthritis, it HURTS to write these cards. I end up with a claw instead of a hand. Sure, a claw has it's uses, but it makes it darned hard to wrap presents and decorate cookies.

Third, I'm sick of doing them.

So I am NOT going to write Christmas cards. I'm NOT. And yet I hear that blasted little voice in my head saying--"Not even to your agent? Editor? What about...?"

Help me stop!

Anyone else want to jump in with a pick for the pact? What will you Just Say No to this year?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

One thing I'm thankful for is the ability to blow off reviews :-) Just stumbled on one this morning--one I didn't expect--and OUCH. However, as I've said six million times, readers should talk about books without authors getting their noses out of joint and intruding on the conversation.

Although I've seen Nora Roberts join in discussions on her books and she has a rare ability to not get emotional and defensive. But then, she's Nora!

For me, it's all about the NEXT book :-)

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

Catching up and Reading

Hubby and I went to the beach this week to celebrate our anniversary. We had a great time, but what amazes me is that we were gone only one night and yet my whole week is thrown off.

I am SUCH A CREATURE OF HABIT! I like my schedule. God, I am old!

Hey, I found an really interesting series if you like paranormal or fantasy. I was looking for books my new editor has edited and came across Rachael Caine's Weather Warden series.

Now back to be me being old. I'm in the bookstore, I find the books and I picked up book one and book five. And I think to myself, "Try something different, start with book one." Cuz, you know, I generally start in the middle of a series and read out of order. I don't know why, it just happens.

So I get home and start reading. I love the book!I have no problem following the plot, but I am thinking that there seems to be a lot of back story for being book one in the series. Since I'm reading, I have my glasses on, and I take a quick look at the front cover.

It says BOOK FIVE.

See? I"m old! I can't read anymore! Or it's possible that I just put the wrong one back. But it does explain why I keep starting books in the middle of the series.

This series is really different. The heroine is a breed of superhero and she can control the weather. Very fast paced.

What are you all reading?

Halloween Hangover

I bought EIGHT BAGS of candy. Yesterday when I put all the candy out in the bowl, I was worried. I could visualize having half a bowl of candy left...and I knew exactly where all that candy would end up.

On my butt and thighs.

But much our surprise, by 7:30 most of the candy was gone!

We had a ton of adorable kids, and some Very Big Kids too! I don't mind the bigger kids (teenagers) because, come on, who can resister getting candy.

Best costume for me was the little girl in green wings, not sure if she was a fairy or butterfly, but she was cute! Hubby liked the two kids in Dale Earnhardt consumes.

I'm just getting to work on my witch hunter book. Right now, I'm still getting back into the book. For some reason, I'm in worrying mode, and it's taken the form of a huge boulder in my stomach. I want this to be the best book ever...

Not to put too much pressure on myself.

I'm trying to just write for a while, see what happens then I'll go back and beat it all into shape. This process is always a struggle for me. I like organization, but my process is anything but organized.

Anyway, that's my life on the work front.

The last three books I've tried to get into reading just haven't done it for me. I hate when that happens! What about you all? Have a good Halloween? Read any good books?

BLOOD MAGIC

In March 2009

The first book in the series introduces the Witch Hunters, legendary men who must overcome a curse to team up with witches and fight evil.
