I Need Music

I need suggestions for my beloved iPod to listen to while working on my witches and witch hunters.

The witches are a little new agey (I think--I'm not good at categorizing music. I'm more of a "I like what I like" person). Think Annie Lennox's WHY. Although some of the witches might be totally rock or alternative...wait I'm confusing myself. I do that a lot while working on a book.

The witch hunters are kick ass. They thrive on Chuck Norris jokes. I'm thinking Bruce Springsteen's BORN TO RUN.

Any suggestions?

Totally not in the Born to Run catagorie... Shiveree's Goodnight, Moon, or Amy the trainwreck Winehouse's Back To Black.

Thanks Cele! BORN TO RUN is old, but I've always loved that song. But your suggestions are just what I need! I don't regularly listen to newer music, so I need to be pointed in the right direction.

I'll try Winehouse's (the trainwreck, LOL!) BACK TO BLACK. I already listened to GOODNIGHT, MOON and love it.

Nope . . .

You need Rob Dougan's entire album for EVERYTHING. Both sides. Awesome for what you're seeking.

Also THE ARCADE FIRE, Keep the Car Running for your hunters.

Oakenfold's Ready, Steady, Go . . . .

If you want something moody, yet soft and beautiful, with a hint of mournfulness, try anything by Sun Kil Moon, or Red House Painters. "All Mixed Up" is wonderful.

Rocking out songs . . . I love Bruce, but there's so much new stuff.

Dakota.
Ryan Adams.

If you want metal-ish, go with Velvet Revolver and Seether.

I could go on, but I'll spare you. :-)

Thanks Erica! I'm saving all this for when I get a few minutes to play over on iTunes.

You are so right about new stuff, that's why I asked! You guys are great!

The song I picked for my demon hunter (book 2) is "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" by the Dropkick Murphys. It's on The Departed soundtrack and has a Celtic/Punk/Kickass fusion. It's perfect for him. LOL

The one I picked for my human hero in book 1: "Tessie" by the Dropkick Murphys. The Redsox use that song, but it suits him perfectly. Loves baseball, owns a restaurant/bar, native New Englander, a kickass guy...

Good luck! I'm almost blogged on this, too! :-)

hi...stumbled onto your blog and you mentioned that you wanted to find music for your ipod. I too was trying to find music to be inspired by and just didn't know enough about whats out there. So I thought it would be great to be able to go to a coffee lounge that had dj's that could help me mix my ipod. wouldn't that be sooo cool?

Hey Michele, it's scary how we think alike :-) I'm going to check out your songs...I'm hoping your demon hunter won't get mad if I borrow his song!

Avril, that's a fantasic idea! And it sounds like something that would just be plain fun to do. Very cool!

You mentioned "new age-y" but then said they were sort kick ass witches, so that made my first thought - POOF. But if you want something different but still high energy - you might try Kan'Nal.
