Laughter Made Me Do It

Blogger and AOL ate my first post. It was probably boring anyway! But this is why when I launch my new blog in January, it will be in WordPress!

Okay so I had a gift card to Barnes and Noble and I went book shopping this weekend. I didn't have any particular books in mind, I was just browsing. I picked up THE DEVIL YOU KNOW by Jenna Black.

I bought the book based on this cover quote by Kelly Armstrong "An exorcist with attitude..." That made me laugh and I bought the book.

I can't remember ever buying a book off a cover quote. It wasn't the name...just that I laughed. It caught my attention. I mean who doesn't want to read about an exorcist with an attitude?

I haven't read the book yet, so we'll see if it the book lives up to it. But I learned something about myself--if something on the cover makes me laugh, I'm going to buy the book!

What about you all? What made you buy the last book you bought?

Actually the last book I bought was the second in a series.

But I am noticing that if I like the cover, then the blurb then I will buy the book. It will be the cover that causes me to pick up the book.

Let's see... The last couple of books I've bought have been ones by authors I already know or are part of a series. Now, I just need to read them!

I think I've bought a book or two based on a cover quote--once or twice. But only because I knew the author (not necessarily personally at that time, but knew their work).

That quote is funny. I also like "...win black a legion of fans." It does say that, right? My eyes are playing tricks on me again? :-)

Dru, covers catch my eye too. I was surprised that a cover quote influenced me.

What series are you reading?

Michele, that's exactly what it says! Too funny. I still haven't read it though.

Hmm, I'm wondering what authors quoted a book and got you to buy it.

The two different series I'm reading are:

Old Maid's Puzzle by Terri Thayer and Doggone by Gabriella Herkert.

The last book I bought was Hot Stuff by Carly Phillips, I bought it because it's part of a series and because I like almost all her stuff. Come to think of it the last couple of books that I bought are part of a series. Maybe I need to expand my horizons . . .
