Fever Paradox

I'm thinking about my next book, and ideas are coming to me OUT OF ORDER!

So frustrating.

I know who I want to be the hero and the heroine, but for some reason, it's two other characters who are filling my head.

For now, I'm just jotting down the out of order idea, and still concentrating on the two characters I have in mind. Either something will come to me, or they will get bumped back to another book. It's so weird to have this happen!

Anyway, over the weekend I was a little sick, had a very low fever and headache. For some reason, I thought this would be a good time to read KILL TIME by T. J. MacGregor. It's a good book, that's not the problem. The problem was that I already had a headache, and I was reading a book about shadow governments and time travel, which means there are paradoxes to consider...

For instance, if I travel back to yesterday and see myself, can I call myself on a cell phone and talk to me?

Try that with a fever!

I'm feeling better today, and will probably finish the book.

So how was your weekend?

Book is Done and Hubby Makes my Day!

I'm back!

The book is with my editor right now and I am free! Okay, not free. There will be revisions, and I have another book to write.

I'm afraid to Tempt Fate because I have no idea what my editor will think of this book. But I'll say this: The book surprised the hell out of me with a twist or two. And I got it done faster than I expected. But the verdict is still out on whether that's a good thing or bad thing.

So today was my first Officially Free Day. I had some shopping to do and all morning I was grumbling to myself that I'd have to put gas in the car.

Normally my husband puts gas in the cars. Yes I'm spoiled. But hey, I do stuff for him! But still...he's been sick for a few days (he's all better now) and I'm not so spoiled that I'd ask him to put gas in the car.

Sure I THOUGHT about it, but I managed to remember he was sick.

So this morning I decided to GET OVER IT and put gas in the car, then go do my errands. I gather up my stuff, get in the car, turn it on and...

THERE'S A FULL TANK OF GAS!

Seriously spoiled.

It took me a good ten minutes to puzzle out when he did that. But the point is, he never said anything, he just did it. For me. It totally made my day! That's what love is, you know?

What's something that made your day?

Now that I have some breathing room, I'll try it post regularly for a while.

I'll be Surfacing Soon

I'm finishing up my book and that's taking all my time so I'm not blogging much. Once I get this book off to my editor, I'll have time to catch up!

So...anyone else shaking their heads at all the political scandals? Governors, prostitutes, affairs, allegations of threesomes...and I used to think politics was boring!

Blowing the Whistle on Fakers

Hey! I'm still alive!

I finished my draft of my book, and now am tackling a pretty significant revision. All my brain cells seem to be on the book. But I did read the newspaper this morning and saw this:

'American dream' memoir exposed as fake

It seems this woman wrote a book claiming she was:

...a mixed-race girl who had been abused as a child and brought up by foster parents in gritty south-central Los Angeles. She claimed to have kept herself alive by running drugs for local gangs.

But it turns out that:

She was not brought up in south-central LA but in the well-to-do Sherman Oaks suburb.

And, far from running drugs to keep herself going and talking the language of the street, she went to private school

Add to this two other well publicized cases of "faking it" a Holocaust memoir written by Misha Defonseca and James Frey's memoir: A Million Little Pieces.

So what's the deal? Should we be shocked that people will lie to achieve money and fame? Probably not.

In my local newspaper, I read that it was Margaret Seltzer's sister who blew the whistle on her. Good for the sister! I think the good news in this is that the truth does have a way of coming out.

So what would you do? If you knew someone was lying so blatantly, would you expose them? I think I would in most cases.
